Death is that which most people are afraid to talk about. Afraid because they do not know what to expect, afraid of the unknown. This nature of uncertainty is what led me to create this churched based installation, using the St Marys Prittlewell location I placed within its interior a set of replica church doors. The doors do not open, and you can only view each side at one time. From the front gold seeps from the cracks giving a false sense of light bursting through, while that back is a simple continuum of writing displaying anonymous contemplations and responses to death.
For my second installation my aim was to create a community based piece of work that both allowed the use of interpersonal communication, while giving the public a chance to write down there confessions in an anonymous form. From this I aimed to provide a space for reflection and communication, a factor which often proves increasingly difficult to find in today's society due to the open spaces found in with contemporary architecture.
